1976 Palmer Johnson 42

This 1976 Palmer Johnson 42 is an aluminum-hulled sailing yacht built for Great Lakes cruising and beyond. The hull and deck were repainted in 2008 and remain in good condition. The single Volvo Penta diesel engine was completely rebuilt by a professional mechanic last year with documentation on file, and the hydraulic drive system was also fully rebuilt at the same time. The boat carries a full complement of sails for various conditions.

Below deck, the yacht sleeps seven across a salon, forward stateroom, and aft stateroom. The galley is equipped with a gas stove and oven, refrigerator-freezer, microwave, and full utensil set. The electrical system features two new 8D batteries installed in 2024, a 2000-watt inverter-charger, a solar panel, and a complete electrical panel.

Navigation and onboard systems include a Ray Marine E-120 chart plotter preloaded with Great Lakes charts, radar, GPS, depth sounder, Type 2 wireless autopilot, and AIS. A Maxwell windless with 2200-pound capacity and Bruce anchor handles ground tackle. The boat also carries an inflatable dinghy with outboard motor.

A custom-made cradle is included and can be towed behind a vehicle without the boat.
