1976 Rare HARRIS 36 EXPRESS

This 1976 Harris 36 Express is a proven offshore sportfish that has spent nearly three decades fishing the northeast canyons from the Hudson to Veatch Canyon. The 35-foot fiberglass hull carries a 12-foot beam and is powered by twin Yanmar 6LY2ASTP engines rated at 440 horsepower each, with approximately 1500 hours on them. The boat cruises at 18 knots at 2400 RPM and reaches speeds over 30 knots at wide-open throttle. It carries 330 gallons of diesel fuel and 25 gallons of fresh water.

The mechanical systems reflect serious offshore capability and recent maintenance. Twin ZF transmissions feature trolling valves for precise boat control. A Northern Lights 5KW generator with less than 75 hours sits ready for extended trips. Lenco trim tabs aid handling, and an 850 windlass handles ground tackle. The boat includes a high-output engine-driven crash bilge pump with raw-water washdown and self-contained water-cooled air conditioning and heating. New fuel filters and associated lines were recently installed, along with a replacement windlass in 2025.

Electronics are comprehensive and current-generation. Dual Simrad systems provide navigation and sounder capability via a 16-inch NSS display with CHIRP transducer; a Furuno FCV 585 adds a second sounder with 265LH through-hull transducer. An AP35 autopilot manages long offshore runs. Radar, VHF with AIS, hailer, and a Cat I EPIRB round out the suite. An Aetna digital tachometer and VDO gauges monitor engine performance.

Fishing amenities include in-deck fish wells each rated for 200-pound plugs, a live well, 15 rod holders with five deep-swivel configurations, and outriggers by Pipe Welders with a Rupp center rigger. LED parking-lot lights mounted on the hardtop illuminate the working deck. The helm features a Stidd chair.
