1977 Baltic 42

This 1977 Baltic 42 is a fiberglass sailing yacht built for performance and cruising. A custom shoal draft keel of 6'2" allows shallow-water exploration while maintaining the responsive handling the design is known for. The boat accommodates one head and is powered by a 50 hp VW Marine 2001 diesel engine fitted with a saildrive system, which minimizes underwater drag while providing reliable propulsion control.

The yacht received extensive attention over recent years. In 2016, the hull and decks were refinished with a complete Awlgrip paint job and new teak decks were installed. The standing rigging was replaced in 2017 with rod rigging. The engine and saildrive installation date to 2011, when the boat was repowered to replace the original shaft or hydraulic drive system.

At 42 feet with a 13-foot 4-inch beam, the yacht balances seaworthiness with manageable proportions for the cruising sailor. The combination of recent refinishing, updated rig, modern engine package, and shoal draft keel makes this a capable platform for both coastal cruising and racing.
