This 44-foot Marine Trader Downeast is a fiberglass trawler powered by twin Ford Lehman diesel engines delivering 240 horsepower and capable of cruising at 8 knots. Originally built as a double-cabin design, the boat has undergone extensive renovation featuring cypress throughout the interior and exterior. The galley includes Corian countertops and new fixtures, while the head has been fully updated. All plumbing has been replaced, and the fuel and water tanks converted from black iron to aluminum. The electrical system, both AC and DC, has been rewired with new switches and lighting throughout.
The interior showcases refinished teak parquet flooring and new salon seating with a matching helm seat. A flat-screen television rises electronically from behind the breakfast bar. Equipment additions include a new 16-kilowatt generator and a new marine air-conditioning system, both unused. Hydraulic systems for the swim platform and windlass have also been installed.
The refit is approximately 80 percent complete. Remaining work includes connecting helm gauges, installing new batteries, and painting the hull and deck. The boat represents significant investment in quality materials and craftsmanship throughout the renovation process.
