This 1978 Bristol Channel Cutter is a 35-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built to the classic Lyle Hess design. The boat features traditional sails and rigging, tiller steering, and a straightforward mechanical systems approach. Deck hardware includes bronze portlights and winches, while the cockpit is finished with teak grating and upgraded Dyneema lifelines. The hull carries a CQR-style anchor with manual windlass, and a new mahogany boomkin and boarding ladder have been recently installed. A Chesapeake Lightcraft nesting dinghy with sailing kit is included.
Power comes from the original Volvo MD7a 2-cylinder diesel engine rated at 13 hp. The boat's wide non-skid decks are in sound condition, and the bronze hardware throughout reflects traditional construction standards.
Below decks, the interior is paneled in African striped mahogany with custom oar handrails and gray cushions. The galley includes a 2-burner Wallas stove/heater, Isotherm refrigerator, brass Fynspray sink faucet, and gold countertops. A manual head with hot water shower serves the single head compartment. Electrical systems include an Xantrex inverter for auxiliary power.
The boat has been freshwater-maintained for over seven years on Flathead Lake in Montana, with earlier time moored on Lake Union in Seattle.
