The Grand Banks 42 Classic is a semi-displacement trawler with a hard-chined hull, tall bow, and full keel that draws just over four feet. Built in 1978 with a fiberglass hull, she measures 42 feet in length with a 13.58-foot beam. Twin Ford Lehman diesel engines rated at 240 hp deliver a cruising speed of nine knots, with plenty of remaining engine life after proper maintenance.
The interior comprises two cabins and two heads. Recent upgrades include new teak decks (glued construction), rebuilt water and fuel tankage, fresh headliners, and reupholstered seating throughout. New plumbing systems and upgraded electronics have been installed. Bow and stern thrusters add operational convenience. Canvas, hull, and superstructure have all been refinished with Awlgrip.
Bottom work completed in summer 2025 included soda blasting to remove accumulated paint layers, new barrier coats, and fresh bottom paint. The combination of structural upgrades and systematic maintenance makes this an actively cruising trawler ready for continued service.
