This 1978 Pearson 424 ketch is a 42-foot cruising sailboat with a fiberglass hull, 13-foot beam, and a diesel-powered engine. The boat has been extensively upgraded and maintained by its owner since 2001. A 56-horsepower Cummins diesel provides auxiliary power, paired with an 80-gallon aluminum fuel tank, dripless stuffing box, and feathering propeller. Navigation and communication equipment includes Garmin GPS with radar and a transducer, new AIS, and VHF. A bow thruster and Maxwell windlass support docking operations.
The interior accommodates two cabins with one head. The galley features granite transformation countertops, and the main salon has reupholstered cushions in high-quality leatherette vinyl. Climate control comes from a whole-boat air conditioning and heating system. Fresh water storage and the head are electric, with a 40-gallon holding tank and an 11-gallon water heater. Power is supplied by two new Lithium 8D house batteries and two starting batteries, all installed in 2024, along with a Magnum inverter/charger and dedicated charging systems for the windlass and bow thruster. Refrigeration is handled by a keel-cooled Frigoboat system converted from the original ice box.
The sail plan includes roller furling headsails, a Marconi mainsail, and a missen. A new mainsail was installed in 2022. The deck and topsides were painted in 2020, and the hull received a bottom job during the most recent haul in 2025.
