1979 CAL 31

This 1979 CAL 31 is a masthead sloop designed by William Lapworth and built by Jensen Marine. The 31-foot fiberglass hull carries a displacement of 9,170 pounds with 3,600 pounds of ballast, offering solid seakeeping characteristics. It features a waterline length of 25.67 feet, a 10-foot beam, and a 5-foot draft. The boat is rigged with a mainsail, 115 genoa, and a light-air spinnaker with sock, producing 490 square feet of sail area. A Yanmar 2GM20F diesel engine with 16 horsepower provides auxiliary power.

The cabin layout includes a large V-berth with new covered cushions forward, two substantial settees to port and starboard, and a fold-down table with shelving. The galley features a Kenton Marine oven with two-burner stove and a new faucet. A head with new shower head, sink faucet, and a new Raritan toilet completes the accommodations. Water capacity is 56 gallons, with a 16-gallon holding tank.

Cockpit equipment includes a Standard Horizon VHF radio, chart plotter, speed gauge, depth gauge, and wind gauge, along with a Raytheon autopilot and Ritchie compass. Additional features are a fold-down teak table, bimini, fold-down swim ladder, and sun cover.

Recent upgrades include a new AC panel and circuit breakers, new AC outlets, new bilge pump with float switch, new safety gear, fresh bottom paint, and treatment of the propeller and shaft.
