This 1979 C&C 29 Mark I is a proven distance racing platform with a proven track record. The boat has logged fifteen Huron Doublehanded Challenge races, a Trans Erie Doublehanded event, and a Trans Superior Doublehanded race in 2017. A 6-inch lead shoe has been fitted to the keel to reduce the hull's natural tenderness, bringing the draft to 6 feet. The fiberglass hull is powered by a Yanmar QM15 diesel engine and features tiller steering.
The deck and rig are extensively outfitted for serious sailing. Hardware includes a Harken rolling furler, oversized main traveler, adjustable jib car leads, and clutches and winches throughout the cockpit. Navigation gear comprises a Garmin 740 chart plotter GPS with AIS receiver and transmitter, autopilot, and VHF radio with masthead antenna. Racing bottom paint (VC 17) protects the hull. A sea swing is aboard for galley use.
The sail inventory reflects the boat's dual-purpose setup. Racing sails include a main in very good condition, three genoas (150, 120, and 110), and three spinnakers (0.6oz, 0.75oz, and 1.5oz chicken chute/reacher), all ready to race. Cruising sails—a 150 genoa with rolling furler and UV cover, a second main, and a 110 genoa—are available to preserve the racing inventory. A steel cradle is included with the boat.
