1980 J Boats J/30

The J/30 is a 30-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 1980, designed as both a responsive day sailor and capable club racer. The boat sits low in the water with a beam of 11 feet 2 inches, delivering the nimble handling characteristic of the J Boats design. She has been maintained in a freshwater environment throughout her life.

Below deck, the yacht accommodates overnight cruising with a single head and cabin berths. The cabin top features three offshore-style opening ports for natural ventilation. The owner has upgraded the self-tailing winches on the cabin top and primaries, fitted a Schaefer roller furler for the headsail, and replaced the original wood toe rails with full-length aluminum genoa track to reduce maintenance demands.

Power comes from a Yanmar 18-horsepower diesel engine paired with an updated transmission. The engine has logged 550 hours since installation and replacement. Navigation and sailing instruments were recently serviced and include a tiller-mount autopilot. The cabin top has areas showing some water intrusion that require attention.
