This 58-foot steel longliner was built in 1979 by John Manly Shipyard in Vancouver and has spent its working life as a combination fishing vessel—rigged for seine, longline, and crab operations. The hull is a hard-chine displacement design with a full keel, fixed kort nozzle, and triple rudders for confident handling in heavy weather. A single Caterpillar 3408 diesel engine of 400 horsepower drives the boat through a Twin Disc gear with hydraulic clutch. The welded steel construction includes an aluminum wheelhouse and a 39-foot flush work deck planked in composite FiberForce that is both durable and quiet underfoot.
The working spaces are organized and well-maintained. Four insulated and glassed fish holds with schedule-80 PVC trunking connect to two 18-ton RSW units, giving the boat a capacity of roughly 120,000 to 135,000 pounds. The deck carries a full complement of fishing gear: hydraulic-powered booms with multiple winches, an anchor winch with capstan, a Nordic steel-sheave longline hauler, a Marco power block for seine work, and a custom stainless davit with Yaquina pot hauler for crab. Stainless bulwarks and cap rails run 37 inches high with freeing ports and cleats. The crow's nest is outfitted with sodium lights and navigation antennas for night operations.
Below deck, accommodations include seven berths arranged in a forward stateroom with five bunks and an aft double cabin, plus one head with shower. The galley is equipped with a four-burner electric range, microwave, and refrigerator-freezer. Electronics support year-round fishing: Furuno radar and GPS, Wesmar sonar, a FLIR thermal camera, Icom VHF sets, and a ComNav autopilot feed into an IBM computer running Nobeltec charting software. Power comes from a John Deere 65-kilowatt generator and Northern Lights 20-kilowatt unit. The engine room features clean diamond-plate decking and clearly labeled systems with tooling aboard. The boat includes two fuel wing tanks holding 2,700 gallons, 1,500 gallons of fresh water capacity, and a 24-volt main electrical system with isolation transformer.
