1979 Hans Christian 38 MKII

The 1979 Hans Christian 38 MKII is a 46-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat that received a comprehensive refit between 2022 and 2024. The work included new Selden mast, boom, and Rodkicker, along with fresh standing and running rigging throughout. A new Yanmar 4JH57 57-horsepower diesel engine powers the boat, supported by a Lofrans Tigris windlass, Vulcan 25 anchor, and 300 feet of 3/8-inch chain. The sail plan consists of new Hasse fully battened main and headsail, new staysail, an asymmetrical spinnaker with dousing sock, and new Schaefer roller furling units for both head and staysail. Canvas includes a navy Sunbrella dodger, mainsail cover, staysail cover, and hatch covers.

Below deck, the galley features a two-burner induction cooktop, stainless steel double sink, Weaco 12-volt refrigeration, and a 6-gallon hot water tank served by both 110-volt and engine heating. The head includes a Jabsco unit with a new 45-gallon holding tank fitted for either dockside pump-out or at-sea macerator operation. Hot and cold pressure water is supplied throughout the galley, head, and shower. Accommodation consists of a single cabin with settee and pullman berth fitted with lee cloths.

Electrical systems were completely rewired in 2023 and include a new AC/DC panel, new house and engine start batteries with isolation switch, 120-volt battery charger, smart charge controller, and a new MPPT solar charger paired with a 100-watt flexible solar panel. Navigation and electronics comprise B&G chartplotter, radar, and video sounder, along with Standard Horizon VHF radio, Starlink, and a Ritchie compass. Deck systems feature new Andersen primary, secondary, and control winches, sealed and painted deck with non-skid surface, and a stainless steel boarding ladder. The engine compartment is fitted with a high-density sound panel. Safety equipment includes dual bilge pumps, masthead tricolor and redundant deck-level navigation lights, and a lifesling.
