This 1979 Morgan 382 is a cruising sailboat designed by Ted Brewer, built with a fiberglass hull and powered by a 38-horsepower Yammer diesel engine. The boat displaces approximately 17,000 pounds and features a well-balanced design with a teardrop hull, wide 12-foot beam, and long overhangs that give it both stability and performance under sail. The elongated fin keel and skeg-attached rudder support an efficient cruising hull that is neither sluggish nor overly specialized, making it suited to extended voyaging.
The interior layout centers on the saloon with an L-shaped port settee seating two at a drop-leaf table and a starboard settee with a narrow pilot berth opposite. The galley occupies the starboard side forward, with a roomy head featuring an enclosed shower. The navigation station is positioned at the head of a double quarter berth to starboard. Throughout the boat, an all-wood interior provides substantial volume and storage.
Significant work was completed in 2023 and 2024. Running rigging was replaced to 95 percent, with new lifelines installed. The windlass, thru-hulls, cutlass bearing, and bottom were all done in 2023. House batteries were replaced with AGM units and a new starting battery installed. The rigging package includes new sails, covers for the genoa and mainsail, and new covers for hatches, windlass, winch, and brightwork. A new dodger and bimini top were added, along with new anchors, chain, and nylon line.
Electronics are fully updated with Garmin GPSMAP 943xsv at the helm, GPSMAP 743XSV at the nav station, and controllers for wind, depth, speed, and autopilot. Upholstery has been refreshed, and the boat carries a Honda 2.3 outboard and a Magma grill as additional equipment.
