1980 Custom Fishing Vessel

The F/V NORSKA is a 72-foot welded steel fishing platform purpose-built for Pacific coastal and inland waters. Designed on a Monk displacement hull with a raked bow and hard chines, she was constructed by Dukes Welding in Crescent City, California, and carries 110 gross tons. Her structural integrity—featuring ¼-inch steel plate hull and deck, heavy angle frames and longitudinals at close centers, and six watertight bulkheads—supports serious commercial production across multiple fisheries. A single Cummins QSK19-MIII diesel producing 750 horsepower drives a Twin Disc MGX 3222DC gearbox and a 68-inch four-blade bronze propeller, delivering a cruising speed of 8 knots and an estimated fuel burn of 12 to 14 gallons per hour.

The boat's working capacity centers on two insulated, fiberglassed fish holds totaling approximately 80,000 pounds capacity for live crab or iced shrimp, along with a 4,500-pound bait freezer. Fuel capacity reaches 9,500 gallons across seven integral steel tanks, while fresh water storage is 2,500 gallons. The auxiliary power plant includes a Cummins NT855 100-kilowatt generator with triple-drive PTO serving three hydraulic pumps, plus two additional generators—a Cummins 4B and an Isuzu 4JG-1—ensuring redundancy for deck winches, anchor systems, and fishing equipment.

Accommodations include a 4-person stateroom and a 2-person stateroom with a main galley featuring a four-burner range, refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. The navigation suite is comprehensive, incorporating Furuno and Simrad radar, sonar, GPS, autopilot, SSB radios, VHF with DSC, satellite phones, and charting systems. The pilothouse features FLIR camera coverage of the aft deck and multiple alarm systems throughout the vessel.

The boat underwent drydock in July 2024 at Toledo Shipyard, where the bottom received fresh coatings, new zincs were installed, the cutlass bearing was replaced, and the tailshaft was reconditioned. Deck equipment includes crab davits, hydraulic blocks, shrimp booms, trawl winches, and multiple Gearmatic and Tulsa winches. Safety gear includes two SOLAS lifeboats, dual EPIRBs, survival suits, and LifeSling systems. Current USCG documentation is valid through May 2026.
