The 2012 River Hawk 73 Sea Stryker is a 73-foot fiberglass patrol boat powered by three MAN D286ILE433 diesel engines delivering 1,775 horsepower each, driving Rolls Royce Kamewa water jet propulsion units. The boat reaches a top speed of 63 knots and cruises at 34 knots, with a survey speed of 2 knots. Originally designed and built to US Naval Code specifications as a fast patrol vessel, it has a range of approximately 400 nautical miles with existing tanks and additional capacity for fuel storage.
The accommodation layout includes four bunk berths with the ability to extend to twelve crew positions, a private head with separate shower, galley, air conditioning and heating throughout. The boat carries a 50-gallon blackwater system and 40-gallon greywater system. A folding mast is fitted to increase bridge clearance when needed.
The boat was converted to hydrographic survey operation and underwent a comprehensive electrical system upgrade, which included installation of new navigation equipment, dual ECDIS, GMDSS, NAVTEX, and meteorological instruments to meet Canadian commercial certification standards. The hydraulic systems in the Rolls Royce jet drives and the gyro system were replaced in June 2026. Comprehensive technical documentation and design drawings are available with the boat. The vessel has a dry weight of 115,000 pounds and fully loaded displacement of 130,000 pounds.
