The Hans Christian 38 MKII is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built in 1980 with a reputation for seaworthiness and traditional design. She measures 38 feet in length with a 12.42-foot beam and is powered by a Sole Mini diesel engine of 44 horsepower. The boat offers one cabin and one head, configured for comfortable extended cruising rather than speed.
Recent work has brought this yacht to a high standard. The hull was stripped to bare fiberglass, treated with a new barrier coat, and finished with fresh bottom paint. A new Sole Mini 44 engine with under 100 hours replaced the original power plant. Aluminum fuel tanks with a combined capacity of 160 gallons were installed, and all waterlines were replaced with Pex tubing in 2020 and 2021. The composite side decks and coachroof are ultradeck material.
The deck hardware and canvas have been updated: new dodger, bimini, and sail covers were added in 2024, along with a new Genoa furler and matching sails installed in 2023 and 2024. The boat has been actively maintained for long-distance cruising in the Pacific and represents significant recent investment in upgrades and refurbishment.
