The 1980 Island Gypsy is a 44-foot fiberglass trawler designed for extended cruising and comfortable coastal passage making. Twin Volvo Penta diesel engines deliver 230 horsepower each, turning 3-blade bronze props through direct drive and cruising at 8 knots at 1650 rpm. The hull features a flared bow and efficient design known to deliver a dry, comfortable ride in rough conditions. Dual fuel tanks hold 400 gallons of diesel, and a 17-kilowatt Onan diesel generator supports onboard power needs.
The accommodation plan centers on a full-beam master stateroom aft with an island berth, private head and shower, and abundant storage. A forward guest cabin provides dual berths with its own head and shower. The spacious salon and galley occupy the midsection with lower helm station, electric stove and oven, air-conditioning, and extensive cabinetry and storage throughout.
Recent upgrades over the past three years include replacement windows professionally rebuilt and sealed by Craven Boat Building with copper drain tubes installed in all frames, new aluminum fuel tanks, LED engine room lighting, and new AGM batteries. A fully enclosed flybridge with rollup windows and an AC refrigerator sits forward of the aft deck. Electronics include a comprehensive Furuno and Garmin suite with GPS, radar, sounder, plotter, and autopilot. An Achilles 10-foot 4-inch RIB tender with 20-horsepower Yamaha outboard and electric davit winch complete the package. Complete maintenance records spanning 2011 to present are on file.
