The 1980 Oyster 39 is a classic cruising yacht built in fiberglass with a beam of nearly 13 feet, offering proven seaworthiness and comfortable proportions for extended voyaging. Powered by a Perkins 4.236 diesel engine that underwent major overhaul in 2010, the boat has been lightly used since and carries a 25-gallon fuel tank. Original standing rigging remains in place; running rigging has been replaced as needed. The mainsail, an easy-reef maxi roach in-mast furling design, was replaced in 2010, and the boat is also equipped with a furling genoa, mizzen, and spinnaker for varied sailing conditions.
Accommodation includes full upholstery throughout using washable microfiber material, two separate water tanks totaling approximately 37 gallons, grey water and blackwater holding tanks, and two heads fitted with Lavac toilets and Royal Doulton bowls with new pumps and seals. The galley features a fridge powered by a Danfoss compressor. Two hanging lockers and extensive storage are distributed throughout.
Deck gear includes a 45-pound anchor, kedge anchor, and spare, plus spray dodgers and a sun awning. Navigation equipment comprises original Sailor radio and Decca radar, both functional. A 24-volt Sterling battery charger and power supply with 12-volt source provide electrical management. A spares kit is included with the boat.
The hull has been pulled out of the water annually for inspection and received a full polish recently. The boat has completed extensive cruising in the Mediterranean and Ionian waters.
