This 1980 Tartan 37 is a Sparkman & Stephens-designed performance cruiser built to lasting standards. The deep keel version delivers strong upwind performance and offshore capability, paired with responsive sailing characteristics that define the class. A Westerbeke 41 hp diesel powers the yacht, with a feathering Max Prop for efficiency under power.
The interior showcases traditional craftsmanship throughout, with solid teak joinery, teak and holly sole, and a thoughtful layout. The forward cabin features a V-berth with hanging lockers and substantial storage. The main salon offers dual settees with berths and additional lockers, while the aft quarter berth sits near the teak navigation station. The galley sits to starboard, designed for safe operation underway. A head compartment with marine toilet, sink, and handheld shower provides dual access from cabin and salon. Accommodations include 50-gallon fuel capacity, 90-gallon water tanks, and a 19-gallon holding tank.
Recent major systems upgrades include a complete 2025 electrical overhaul: Victron lithium battery bank (two 200Ah LiFePO4 cells), Victron MultiPlus inverter/charger, Cerbo GX controller, and new AIS transceiver. Canvas is new, with a 2024 bimini and dodger. Rigging was renewed in 2023, along with fresh water plumbing, a new refrigeration system, and updated marine head and holding tank. Solar panels and controllers were added in 2024, and navigation electronics include a new Garmin helm chartplotter, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS, and Simrad wind/speed/depth instruments. The hull and deck received Awlgrip paint in 2010 with epoxy hull sealing; bottom was last painted in May 2022. Sails include a Neil Pryde mainsail, roller furling genoa, and asymmetrical spinnaker. Ground tackle comprises a new Rocna anchor with chain and rode, and a Maxwell electric windlass.
A Dyer Dhow fiberglass dinghy with sail kit, oars, and Honda 2 hp outboard is included.
