This 1981 Cheoy Lee 55 was extended to 67 feet in 1985 by Bradford Marine in Fort Lauderdale, overseen by original designer Charles Wittholz. The aft extension increased fuel capacity by approximately 1,000 gallons, enabling extended-range cruising. The yacht is powered by twin Caterpillar diesel engines producing 420 hp each, fitted with Twin Disc transmissions (2.96:1 ratio). Both engines underwent bare-block overhauls in 2006 with .020 overbores, oversized pistons, reconditioned crankshafts, cylinder heads, and new valves and guides; they have logged over 300 hours since. Twin Powertech generators (10kw and 17.5kw) replaced the original Onan units and have similarly accumulated over 300 hours.
The boat accommodates four cabins and three heads. The main bridge features a rebuilt console with navigation electronics including Furuno chartplotters for the Caribbean and Florida, SSB/weather receivers, monitors, and engine room and stern cameras. The saloon is equipped with television and climate control. Four cabins include the forward cabin with new LED lighting and overhauled portlights, two guest cabins with new MarineAire air conditioning, and an aft cabin. All heads have been updated with new fixtures and LED lighting.
Extensive mechanical and systems work has been completed throughout. The engine room features rebuilt Sperry Naiad stabilizers, new immersion water heaters, redesigned fuel transfer and filtration systems drawing from four main tanks with gravity feed to a 1,400-gallon day tank, new battery chargers and parallel charging system, upgraded exhaust insulation, new blower intake fans, and all new LED lighting. Ten new bilge pumps and float switches serve the yacht. The galley includes new cooktop, microwave, and drawers. Five new MarineAire air conditioning units are installed throughout.
The hull and deck systems have been substantially rebuilt. The rudder and steering have been serviced with new yokes fitted. Propellers are balanced 4-blade bronze (23x32). New cutlasses replaced "A" brackets. Approximately 50 feet of new rubbing bands were installed. The flybridge has been reinforced with additional bracing and fitted with four 1.4kw solar panels (70 amps at 60+ volts DC), new mast, deck and navigation lights. The aft deck is enclosed with Lexan panels. New anchoring equipment includes a 65kg CQR pattern anchor in stainless steel with new chain and chain handling gear. The forward cabin holds a new washing machine. An electric bilge pump system with high-water alarm supplements manual systems.
