1981 Little Harbor SLOOP

This 38-foot Little Harbor sloop is a design by Ted Hood, built at his Taiwan yard. One of approximately 30 examples of the Little Harbor 38 model, the boat combines classic cruising pedigree with substantial recent investment in systems and structure.

The boat has been significantly upgraded over successive ownerships. The engine was replaced in 2010. Between 2011 and 2012, the deck and cockpit sole were re-cored and re-decked. An Edson steering system was installed in 2011, and refrigeration and freezer were renewed in 2021. Standing rigging components for the Hood Stowaway mast were replaced between 2016 and 2018. Running rigging and the centerboard pennant are recent additions. A MaxProp feathering propeller, windlass, and solar panel support passive systems; high-output alternator and fresh batteries provide electrical capacity.

The sloop carries comprehensive navigation and sailing equipment: color radar, two chart plotters, autopilot, and electronic compass. Deck hardware includes oversized self-tailing cockpit winches, roller furling headstay, and all lines led aft to the cockpit. The sail inventory comprises a recent mainsail, multiple headsails, spinnaker, and drifter. A cockpit dodger and bimini provide weather protection. Additional equipment includes a stern outboard engine davit, two anchors, and a windlass.

Exterior brightwork has been stripped and revarnished with fresh coats. The hull was bottom-painted and launched recently.
