The 1981 Yamaha 36 is a 36-foot aft cockpit cruising sailboat with a fiberglass hull and a beam of 12 feet. Powered by a Yanmar 2GM20H inboard diesel engine rated at 22 horsepower, the boat has been used exclusively on fresh water. The rig is a tall double-spreader design carrying a full-batten mainsail and a 110% Hood Genoa equipped with a Harken roller furling system. A cruising spinnaker with sock rounds out the sail plan. The steering is wheel-controlled, and an Autohelm autopilot is installed.
The yacht is outfitted for extended cruising with a three-battery 12-volt system supplemented by a two-panel solar charging array. Onboard comfort includes an ESPAR diesel cabin heater, Adler Barbour refrigeration, and a Kenyon propane stove. A Force 10 propane grill is mounted on the rail. Ground tackle consists of a 35-pound CQR plow anchor with 125 feet of chain deployed by a Lewmar electric windlass.
