This 1982 Benetti Sail Division 16m Motorsailer is a steel-hulled ketch designed by Laurent Giles for serious offshore cruising. Built in Viareggio, the boat measures 53 feet overall and combines a steel hull with aluminium deck and superstructure. A Volvo Penta TMD70C diesel engine powers the yacht via shaft drive, supported by a hydraulic bowthruster. The rig is fully equipped with in-boom furling on both main and mizzen, electric furling on the genoa, and a gennaker, configured for short-handed sailing.
The interior comprises four cabins, each with an ensuite head. The layout includes an owner's stateroom aft, a VIP twin cabin forward, a guest twin aft, and a further twin cabin in the forepeak, finished throughout in mahogany. The galley is fitted with a Smeg gas stove, microwave, and twin refrigerators. Navigation systems include Furuno radar, B&G instruments, and dual autopilot options. Air-conditioning is reverse-cycle; the boat carries a Kohler 17kw diesel generator and 24vDC battery systems.
Recent updates include a full hull repaint in 2018, new teak decking in 2018, and replacement battery banks in 2022. The steel hull features a lead fin keel with semi-skeg-supported rudder. Fuel capacity is approximately 1,000 litres; fresh water capacity approximately 2,000 litres. The boat is equipped with twin anchors, davits, a passarelle, and a 3.20-metre RIB tender with 15hp outboard.
