The C&C Landfall 38 represents a thoughtful departure from the builder's racer/cruiser heritage, conceived by Rob Ball's design team as a dedicated offshore cruising platform. Built in 1982 with a fiberglass hull, this 37.5-footer combines the seakindly qualities and tankage necessary for distance sailing with the refined lines that defined Canadian yacht building. Her modified fin keel and skeg-protected rudder track well in all conditions, while the sail plan maintains respectable power in light air. A 30 hp Yanmar diesel inboard handles propulsion reliably.
The interior showcases thoughtful production-yacht design from that era. The cabin features high-quality teak joinery throughout, with a traditional V-berth forward, dedicated head to port, and hanging locker to starboard. The main salon offers ample seating via a U-shaped settee paired with a straight settee opposite, suitable for a full crew. A deep U-shaped galley keeps the cook secure while underway. Headroom measures 6'2", and the layout sleeps six across the forward cabin, main salon, and quarter berth. Multiple overhead hatches and opening ports provide strong ventilation, while a diesel heater manages cool conditions.
The boat carries an extensive suite of sails including a 2023 mainsail with two reefs and cover, a 2023 furling genoa, original main and genoa, storm jib, asymmetrical spinnaker, and two additional spinnakers. Winches include primary self-tailing units, dedicated halyard winches at the mast, boom, and mainsheet arrangements. Navigation and safety equipment comprises a GPS chartplotter, VHF radio, compass, depth sounder, and full safety kit including six life jackets, flares, and manual and electric bilge pumps. The galley includes a gimbaled LPG stove with oven, refrigerated ice box, pressurized hot and cold water system, and microwave.
The inboard was repowered and operates in very good working order. A dinghy with outboard, 30-amp shore power setup, dual 12-volt battery system, and a composting head complete the inventory. A new bimini is on order.
