The 1982 Chaser 39 is a fiberglass sailing yacht built on solid construction principles. Her hull features a continuous fiberglass bond between hull and deck, creating a rigid and watertight connection, and she carries 8,000 pounds of encapsulated lead ballast low in the hull. The deck is balsa-cored with GRP-encapsulated balsa stringers throughout the interior. Topsides have been painted with two-component Epiphanies paint, and bottom paint is VC17 with two unopened cans included. A Volvo MD11/S110 saildrive installed in July 1981 provides auxiliary power. Wheel steering and a composite tread boarding ladder complete the deck setup.
The rig is well-equipped for sailing efficiency. The mainsail uses a full Harken battcar system with Torlon bearing cars, and features two reef points. A 154% Evolution Genoa paired with a Seafurl 5 headsail furling system provides versatile sail handling. Self-tailing Arco 48 primary winches and Lewmar 42 cabin top winches, along with a Garhauer rigid vang and mainsheet traveller, allow precise sail control. A Forspar whisker pole is mounted on the mast track, and all lines lead aft to the cockpit for single-handed operation. Navigation is supported by a Raymarine ST6001 autopilot, ST60+ instruments for wind, speed, and depth, a White Star binnacle compass, and a Standard Horizon GX1700 VHF with DSC/GPS.
The interior offers 6'1" headroom in the salon, which features a centerline table with leaves and a sea berth to starboard. Forward is a generous V-berth measuring 80 inches long by 72 inches wide. The galley provides 6'8" of headroom and includes a propane three-burner stove with oven and 120-volt refrigeration with a glycol box evaporator. One head with a brand-new household-sized Jabsco manual toilet completes the accommodations.
Systems include new 6-volt house batteries and a starting battery installed in 2025, a two-bank guest battery charger, and shore power with cord. A bimini covers the companionway and an awning with plastic window covers the cockpit, though the dodger's front and side panels need new plastic. A 20kg Bruce anchor with 4 meters of chain and nylon rode is aboard, along with fire extinguishers. A recent folding cradle is included.
