1982 DeFever 52 Offshore Cruiser

Noelani is a 1982 DeFever 52 Offshore Cruiser built for serious long-range cruising. Her full-displacement fiberglass hull is fitted with keel ballast and a Gyro-Gale pneumatic stabilization system to ensure a gentle motion in heavy seas. Twin Caterpillar 3208 NA diesel engines deliver 210 horsepower each and cruise at 6.5 to 7 knots, burning roughly one nautical mile per gallon. With 1,500 gallons of fuel capacity, the boat achieves a range of approximately 1,200 miles. The flush-deck design maximizes interior volume, and a walk-around engine room provides easy access to the powerplant with 6 feet 5 inches of headroom.

The interior spans three full decks. Below are three staterooms: the aft master features a walk-around queen bed with an ensuite head containing shower and tub, while two forward queens share a head with shower. The main deck holds an open-plan salon and galley, where a full suite of appliances includes dishwasher, washing machine, full-size refrigerator, ice maker, and a propane stove. Climate control is provided by multiple Flagship Marine and Mermaid Marine air-conditioning systems throughout. A pilothouse with a watch berth and Mermaid Marine AC sits forward of the salon, separated by a wall and curtain for night running. The flybridge and upper deck offer excellent visibility and space for a tender up to 14 feet.

Electrical systems have been upgraded with a 1,800-watt solar array, Victron Quattro inverter, and a 24-volt battery bank of 840 amp-hours. A 9 kilowatt Northern Lights generator and Lombardi DC generator with Victron autostart provide backup power. Navigation electronics include a full suite—Furuno radar and multifunction display, TimeZero Professional charting software with weather routing, AIS+, VHF and HF radio, and Iridium capability. A 600-gallon-per-day watermaker supplies fresh water. The boat includes a 2007 Walker Bay Genesis tender with 15-horsepower outboard and an electric-hydraulic davit for launching.

The teak interior reflects 1980s Taiwanese craftsmanship from builder CTF Marine Co., and the hull features a barrier coat with four layers of Cukote and no blisters. The boat carries dual anchoring systems, a large stern swim platform, and a comprehensive suite of safety gear including sea anchor, drogue chute, and oversized through-hull strainers. Only twelve DeFever 52 hulls were built.
