This 1982 Ta Shing Tatoosh 42 is a Perry-designed fiberglass cruising yacht with proven blue water credentials. The encapsulated fin keel and skeg-hung rudder provide directional stability and maneuverability, while the 55-horsepower Perkins diesel engine delivers a cruising speed of 6 knots with a maximum speed of 8 knots. The boat measures 42 feet in length with a 12.75-foot beam.
The teak decks were comprehensively restored in 2014. All fasteners were removed, the deck was re-cored where necessary, vacuum-bagged, treated with AwlCare paint, and new teak was set with epoxy fasteners. Deck hardware was removed and re-bedded to guard against moisture penetration into the coring. The cockpit is spacious and aft-facing, fitted with custom cushions and protected by a new dodger, bimini, connector, and full enclosure with screens.
Below deck, the layout centers on an open salon with a large U-shaped galley and includes three cabins and two heads. The aft stateroom provides ensuite access to a full head with shower. Storage is abundant throughout for extended cruising.
The hull carries a clear coat applied by a previous owner; some areas show minor cosmetic peeling. The boat was hauled in 2023 and recently re-splashed with rigging and all systems checked and ready.
