The Catalina 42 is a 1993 cruising sailboat built by Catalina Yachts to a Nelson Marek design. At 42 feet overall with a 13-foot 10-inch beam, she displaces 20,500 pounds with 8,300 pounds of lead ballast. The hull and deck are fiberglass construction with a balsa-cored deck and a lead fin keel paired with a spade rudder. Power comes from a 50-horsepower Yanmar 4JH25E diesel engine with a 2.63-ratio marine gear, driving a fixed three-blade propeller. She carries 46 gallons of fuel and 100 gallons of fresh water.
The interior is finished in light teak with solid wood trim and a teak-and-holly sole. The salon features an offset C-settee to port with a large dinette table opposite a bench settee to starboard, and a chart table forward with swing-out seat. A Dickenson Newport diesel bulkhead heater provides cabin warmth. The galley to port is well-equipped with a three-burner Princess propane stove and oven, microwave, double sinks with mixer tap, and extensive storage. Two heads serve the boat: the salon head forward and an en-suite head in the forward cabin with a separate shower stall. The forward owner's cabin has a pullman double bed to port with storage below, hanging lockers, and Lewmar opening ports and hatch. The aft guest cabin offers a double bed, hanging locker, and drawers.
Navigation and electronics include a Raymarine C140 chartplotter, Raymarine radar on the mast, Autohelm ST6000 autopilot, Raymarine ST 60+ instruments for depth, speed, and wind, and a Standard Horizon VHF radio. The sailing rig is aluminum with double spreaders and a 1159-square-foot sail plan: mainsail, 130-percent furling genoa, and cruising spinnaker. Deck gear includes Lewmar primary and halyard self-tailing winches, a Schaeffer 3000 genoa furler, hydraulic backstay adjuster, and a Maxwell 800-watt electric windlass with 100 feet of chain and 200 feet of rope. Additional features include a fixed aluminum-framed glass dodger and a stainless steel–framed soft top bimini. The last haul-out was in February 2026.
