The Tartan 33 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat measuring 33 feet 9 inches overall with an 11-foot beam, built to balance performance and comfort. She sits on a deep fin keel with a balanced spade rudder, drawing on over 4,000 pounds of lead ballast within a 10,000-pound displacement. The rig and hull design deliver responsive handling and reliable upwind performance, with typical cruising speeds of 6 to 7 knots. A Universal 5424 diesel engine (24 horsepower) provides auxiliary propulsion backed by a 26-gallon fuel tank and 62-gallon freshwater capacity.
Below deck, the interior features warm teak joinery laid out with practicality in mind. A spacious V-berth forward includes storage and overhead stowage, while an adjoining head to port holds a marine toilet, sink, and standing headroom. The main saloon offers a convertible dinette to port and settee to starboard; a large quarter berth aft to starboard serves as a sea berth. An L-shaped galley includes a three-burner propane stove with oven, deep stainless sink, and icebox or refrigerator.
Recent improvements include a new Harken furler, new lifelines, and a mast and boom refinished in black Imron in September 2020. The boat comes equipped with a Danforth anchor and chain, fenders, docking lines, spring line, fire extinguishers, first aid kit, life jackets, and a whisker pole.
