This 1983 Franchini Sintesi is a 47-foot center cockpit ketch built from thick fiberglass and weighing 15.5 tonnes. She has a beam of 4.1 metres, a half keel with 1.85-metre draft, and a high freeboard that minimizes spray. The hull and deck were repainted as part of a comprehensive refit.
The boat was extensively rebuilt by the previous owner. A new 89-horsepower turbocharged Nanny diesel engine was installed with approximately 1,700 hours of running time. The electrical system was completely rewired with new cabling, panel, and a Quick 80-amp battery charger. New stainless steel rigging was fitted to both masts. The main mast, which measures 18 metres with an additional 3 metres below deck, was lowered and its steps remade in 2020. The mizzen mast, a 12-metre deck-stepped spar, was recently restored. A new Raymarine C80 chart plotter with AIS and a new Icom VHF radio were installed. New galley appliances include a Domestik Sunlight oven with two burners, plus a new refrigerator and freezer. A new water heater provides both electric and engine-heated water.
The boat carries 750 litres of fresh water and 350 litres of diesel in stainless steel tanks. Power is supplied by 510 amps of AGM service batteries installed in 2021, supplemented by gel emergency and starter batteries. Solar panels totalling 800 watts with an MPPT controller were installed in 2020. An auxiliary Lombardini LMG4000 generator and a Honda I1000 portable generator provide additional power. The rig includes a full-batten mainsail, half-batten mizzen, roller-furling jib system with multiple headsails, staysails, a Yankee, a gennaker with sock, and a large spinnaker. A Highfield semi-rigid dinghy with a 3.5-horsepower Mercury outboard is included with anchor and chain.
Safety equipment includes a life raft for six, multiple fire extinguishers, life jackets, harnesses, bilge pumps in the saloon and engine room, flares, and an emergency tiller. The boat is equipped with extensive anchoring gear including a 40-kilogramme Delta anchor with 70 metres of 10-millimetre chain and 15 metres of 12-millimetre chain, plus a Fortress FX-85 aluminum spare anchor. Spares and tools aboard cover engine maintenance, rigging, sails, plumbing, electrical systems, and fiberglass repair, along with camping and fishing gear.
