1983 Vagabond 42

This 1983 Vagabond 42 is a fiberglass sloop with a 12.5-foot beam and a single 75-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine. The boat carries a complete standing rigging replacement performed in 2017, with a 45-foot aluminum mainmast and 28-foot aluminum mizzen, both equipped with in-mast furling. The sail plan includes a self-tacking foresail, a light air sail, and a full suit of Mack sails from 2017 in very good condition. Twin Pro-Furl furlers and multiple Harken and Barient winches manage the rig, while the boat carries a 12V windlass with foot pedals and a complete ground tackle system including a Rocna Vulcan anchor deployed in 2023.

The yacht was completely rewired in 2022 and features comprehensive electrical infrastructure with 30A/120VAC shore power, a 12V and 120V distribution system, five AGM batteries refreshed in 2023, a 3000W inverter, and two 330W solar panels with MPPT charge controller. Fresh water is generated by a Marine Tech water maker, and the boat carries a 12V diesel heater, 120V water heater, and Dometic refrigeration with compressor and cold plates. Navigation and communication are handled by Garmin electronics including dual GPSmap units, autopilot, AIS, radar, and a separate Icom SSB and VHF.

Recent work includes new injectors, turbo maintenance, and a stainless steel exhaust elbow completed in 2024. The cabin sole was replaced in 2015, new Bomar hatches were installed in 2017, and barrier coats were applied in 2022. The bronze prop was replaced in 2022, along with new bilge pumps and cabin ventilation fans. Deck hardware throughout is bronze, with stainless steel davits, a dodger frame with hard top and full isinglass enclosure, and a cockpit shower. Safety equipment includes a 6-person life raft, EPIRB, fire extinguishers, and life jackets. An AB 11.5-foot aluminum RIB dinghy with bow locker was added in 2012.
