A 1983 Wauquiez 43 Amphitrite built for serious offshore cruising, this ketch combines classic French design with substantial recent investment in her core systems. The hull is fiberglass, and the boat carries a Beta 60 diesel engine installed in 2020 with fewer than 500 hours of running time. Standing rigging dates to 2026, with sails from Precision (2021) and running rigging replaced in 2022. The hull received a complete sandblasting and fresh epoxy barrier coats in 2023, while the deck was rebuilt in 2020 with teak removed and replaced by epoxied, glassed subflooring finished in Kiwi non-skid.
Below deck, the interior features hand-finished teak throughout a voluminous layout designed around a central salon with U-shaped dining area and long settee. The galley sits to starboard with stainless steel double sinks, a two-burner stove with oven, refrigeration, and countertops. To port is a full navigation station with ample work surface. An aft master stateroom includes a queen bed, wraparound couch with storage, desk, and dedicated head now converted to a laundry room with vanity sink. Forward quarters offer a large V-berth with storage, and a main head with shower sits midships. Engine access is provided on three sides, including large double doors from the port walkthrough.
Electrical systems have been substantially upgraded: 880-amp-hour house battery bank and 220-amp starter battery (both 2020), 400 watts of solar panels with MPPT controller (2023), and core wiring replaced in 2017. Navigation and communication equipment includes Raymarine integrated instruments, Furuno radar, Icom SSB radio, AIS transponder with WiFi (2023), and new VHF with cabling to the mizzen mast (2025). A Magnum inverter/charger provides AC power, and a Spectra water maker offers 15 gallons per hour (the Clark pump requires service). The engine room houses a ZF 25M transmission, variable-pitch feathering propeller (rebuilt 2020), and a Webasto diesel heater serving three zones.
The deck carries high bulwarks, extended stanchions, and a deep center cockpit with large open working areas. A Lofrans windlass with remote controls manages ground tackle: a 55-pound Rocna primary anchor and Danforth secondary on 200 feet of chain. Nine self-tailing winches of various sizes support handling. The rig includes a removable Solent stay, telescoping whisker pole, and secondary sails in inventory. A replacement bimini (2023) and dodger (2021) provide weather protection, with a Shade Tree system offering additional shading on deck.
