1984 Bayfield 29

The Bayfield 29 is a 29-foot sailing yacht built in 1984 with a fiberglass hull designed around timeless cruising principles. The boat features a full keel with a shallow 3'6" draft, a functional bowsprit, and a cutter rig setup that combines a fully battened mainsail with a furling headsail, yankee, and jib. A DRS spinnaker in sock rounds out the sail plan. The design delivers stability and composed motion in rough water while remaining manageable enough for gunkholing and shallow-draft cruising.

Below deck, the cabin layout is open and airy without a traditional forward bulkhead, making efficient use of the generous beam and creating a spacious feel for a boat of this size. Warm wood joinery and thoughtful details give the interior character typical of the era's craftsmanship. A single head with a Jabsco manual marine toilet serves sanitary needs. Water and holding tanks hold 80 liters each.

Power comes from a Yanmar Y2GM 13 hp diesel engine with approximately 800 hours on it. The fuel system includes a new 60-liter heavy-gauge aluminum tank installed in 2004 with an epoxy-coated bottom. The steering system uses an Edson pedestal with an Autohelm 4000 autopilot for extended cruising. Navigation and communication equipment includes a Standard Horizon chart plotter and VHF radio.

The boat carries a comprehensive inventory of cruising gear. A new dodger, bimini, and connector were installed in 2023, along with new stainless steel dinghy davits. The inflatable dinghy is new from 2022 with a mid-1990s 2 hp Johnson outboard. Ground tackle comprises a 20 lb CQR anchor, 15 feet of 5/16" chain, and 250 feet of 1/2" braided nylon. Onboard systems include jack lines, bosun's chair, 80-liter water and holding tanks, and shore power connectivity.
