The LM Mermaid is a 31-foot sailing yacht built in Denmark in 1984 by a yard known for North Sea-capable vessels. Hand-laid fiberglass construction with a lead keel encapsulated in fiberglass eliminates concerns about keel bolts. The boat carries a Volvo 28 hp diesel engine serviced in fall, paired with a rack and pinion wheel steering system. The mast features double spreaders and oversized rigging typical of European rather than domestic designs.
Below deck, the interior is finished in teak with new-looking upholstery and includes a large ice chest. Hot water is available from both shore power and the engine. Navigation equipment includes a Garmin color GPS chart plotter, autopilot, and depth sounder.
The sailing rig consists of tri-radial sails including a spinnaker with sock, and the headsail received a new sacrificial strip in 2025. A permanent factory glass dodger with new canvas and a bimini top are fitted. Bottom paint was applied one year ago. A winter cradle and custom cover are included, along with a storage rack for the mast.
