This 1984 Shannon 51 center cockpit ketch is a fiberglass cruising yacht built to passagemaking standards, with a 50-foot hull and 14-foot beam. The boat draws 5 feet 9 inches with the centerboard up and carries 15,500 pounds of internal lead ballast. The ketch rig totals 1,227 square feet of sail, and the 42-foot 6-inch waterline supports easy 200-mile days in favorable conditions. Power comes from a Yanmar 4JH3-DTE 125-horsepower diesel with just 130 hours of running time. A Northern Lights 6-kilowatt generator and integrated battery and charger system support extended cruising.
The interior follows a three-cabin layout with a centerline queen berth in the owner's stateroom aft, a spacious guest cabin forward, and a sea cabin amidships with upper and lower single berths. Two heads with showers serve the accommodations. Solid teak cabinetry and oak-faced bulkheads define the main salon, galley, and navigation station. A teak and holly cabin sole runs throughout. Fresh water capacity is 160 gallons in 316 stainless steel tanks; fuel capacity is 180 gallons in aluminum tanks. The galley includes a gimballed three-burner propane stove with oven.
The boat underwent a comprehensive 10-year restoration completed in 2025. All standing and running rigging was replaced, and the masts and booms were stripped and repainted. A full suite of new sails—genoa, staysail, main, and mizzen—was built in 2021 and first installed in 2025. New Awlgrip paint covers the topsides, masts, and booms in white with a single blue boot stripe. New portlights, deck hardware, winches, and brightwork throughout maintain the finish to high standards. Below deck, fuel and water tanks are new, along with both heads, the water heater, bilge pumps, engine insulation, and all battery and electrical systems. Electronics include B&G Zeus3 multifunction displays, Robertson AP10 autopilot, Icom VHF radio with DSC, and updated navigation systems. All interior and exterior cushions, canvas work, and propane systems are new or rebuilt.
