The Slocum 43 is a 42-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 1984, powered by a single 50-horsepower Perkins diesel engine. The boat combines sturdy design with thoughtful interior joinery, featuring teak ceiling strips throughout the cabin for warmth and visual character, along with a teak and holly sole.
The layout centers on a generous saloon with a circular dining table to port and straight settee to starboard, topped with ultra suede cushions. Forward is a dedicated navigation station with shelving and cabinet storage, equipped with electrical panels and electronics mounted within easy reach. The galley spans the port side with a Seaward three-burner LPG stove and oven, double sink with hot and cold pressure water, microwave, and a Frigoboat 12-volt refrigerator-freezer with digital controls. The master cabin features a king-sized vee berth with extensive storage, hanging locker, and multiple opening ports and hatches for natural light and ventilation. A smaller quarter berth on the starboard side provides additional accommodation. The head includes a shower stall, sink, electric commode, and fan.
Climate control consists of an Aqua Air 16,000-BTU heat pump and air-conditioning system installed in 2018. Entertainment and navigation are supported by a flat-panel television with antenna, West Marine stereo with speakers, and Standard Horizon VHF radio. The cockpit is accessed via a center companionway with four steps, with additional storage beneath the lower stairs. Throughout the boat, abundant cabinetry, shelves, and drawers support extended cruising needs.
