The Tayana 55 is a 55-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built on a proven design with a solid reputation for seaworthiness and comfort. The hull is hand-laminated fiberglass with foam-cored stringers throughout the lower section for stiffness, and a modified fin keel with internal cast iron ballast. The deck combines closed-cell foam and end-grain wood core construction, with reinforced plywood in hardware areas. The rudder is skeg-mounted with a stainless steel post and integral reinforcement.
The yacht has three cabins: two with bunks and a large master cabin aft with a double bed. Two heads serve the accommodations. A single Perkins diesel engine of 134 horsepower provides propulsion. Deck equipment includes eight electric winches and two hydraulic rollers for sail handling.
The current owner has undertaken substantial renovation in recent years. The hull was reinforced, and the engine was replaced with a new Perkins unit. A generator was also installed. Updates to systems and furnishings include new artificial teak decking, a new gas stove, microwave, and refrigerator.
