This 1985 Cape Dory 31 Cutter is a full-keel sailing yacht designed by Carl Alberg and built in solid fiberglass. One of only 89 produced between 1983 and 1985, she measures 31 feet 4 inches overall with a 9-foot 9-inch beam and draws 4 feet 9 inches. The hull carries 11,500 pounds displacement and is powered by a 21-horsepower Universal M-series diesel with a 2.0:1 reduction gear, 1-inch stainless steel propeller, and 19-gallon aluminum fuel tank. The white hull features a blue bottom with 10mm epoxy barrier coat, teak toerails and grabrails, double stainless steel lifelines, and two opening hatches. An Edson wheel steering system with leather wrap and Morse controls manages the boat underway.
The deck carries 504 square feet of sail across Harstick main with four battens, Harstick yankee and staysail on roller furling, and a 1990 Shore Sails genoa 155. An aluminum mast is stepped on the keel. Two new 2023 Lewmar 2-speed self-tailing main winches handle sheet work. A 2024 dodger with Strataglass windows and Sunbrella cover, plus matching steering station cover, protect the cockpit. New 2024 main and jib halyards and a staysail cover are fitted, with spinnaker pole pad eyes on the mast.
Below, the cabin is paneled in teak with a V-berth forward and U-shaped galley featuring stainless steel sink with pressurized hot and cold water, hand pump auxiliary, Origo 6000 two-burner gimbaled propane stove with oven, and Adler Barbour refrigeration with insulated box. The head has stainless steel sink and handheld shower with pressurized water. A 2021 replacement 12V flush toilet connects to a 20-gallon holding tank with overboard discharge and diverter valve. Bilge systems include a manual Whale Gusher in the cockpit and a 2021 replacement 12V Rule automatic pump with manual override.
Electronics include a Furuno color radar and chartplotter with C-Map on the steering station, Raymarine ST 6002 SmartPilot autohelm with control head, ST60 instruments for speed, log, and wind, and a 2022 Standard Horizon Matrix GX2100 VHF with AIS. Power comes from three 12V 105-amp-hour AGM house batteries installed in 2019 plus a dedicated engine start battery, charged by a 2020 ProMariner 110V charger and 110-amp high-output alternator with remote cutout.
