The 1986 Beneteau First 305 is a classic 30-foot cruising sailboat built on a proven design that has logged thousands of miles since the model's launch. This fiberglass hull was kept in freshwater on the Great Lakes, reducing exposure to salt corrosion. The boat carries a single Volvo diesel engine rated at 18 horsepower for auxiliary power and maneuvering.
Recently the boat received substantial systems upgrades. New standing rigging was installed in 2024–25, and a comprehensive electrical and electronics refit was completed in 2024. The new electrical infrastructure includes a fresh panel, LED lighting throughout, batteries relocated to the aft cabin, and a complete suite of navigation and monitoring gear: Garmin chartplotter, Raymarine instruments, anemometer, and AIS. A Bluetooth stereo system with speakers was added to the cabin.
The boat is configured with a single cabin and is outfitted for cruising. With its freshwater history and recent investment in core systems, it is ready for use on the water.
