1986 Boston Whaler Montauk

This 1986 Boston Whaler Montauk is a 17-foot center console built from fiberglass with a classic design suited to freshwater operation. The boat has been garage-stored since 2012 and has seen minimal use over its lifetime. In 2015, significant restoration work was completed, including gel coat respray on the hull exterior and interior liner, professional sanding and varnishing of all original teak, installation of a replacement OEM rub rail, and polishing of original stainless steel hardware. The electrical system was completely rewired, with all running lights and switches operational.

Power comes from a 2007 Honda 90-horsepower four-stroke engine with variable valve timing and electronic fuel injection, mounted on the original factory-notched transom. The engine has 200 original hours and features a stainless steel four-blade offshore propeller that achieves 40 mph with a full load. Hydraulic steering is installed, and the fuel capacity is 24 gallons. Two new batteries were installed in November 2024.

Electronics include a Furuno FCV-600L color fish finder, Garmin GPSMAP 220 color GPS chartplotter, and VHF marine radio. The center console features an OEM tinted windscreen, and factory rod holders are mounted at the bow and stern. An OEM galvanized single-axle trailer with operational lights is included.

The boat was serviced in February 2022 by Boston Whaler specialists. Given the four years since that service, routine fluid and impeller service would be prudent before extended operation.
