1986 Cape Dory 26

This 1986 Cape Dory 26 is a classic heavy-displacement cruiser designed by Carl Alberg. One of 78 built between 1984 and 1986, the boat features a full keel with attached rudder, narrow beam, and low freeboard—hallmarks of the designer's approach to sea-kindly boats. Unlike the Cape Dory 25D with its inboard diesel, this model was engineered with a dedicated outboard well, allowing owners the benefits of modern outboard reliability while retaining the traditional hull form. The boat displaces 5,418 pounds with 2,400 pounds of ballast, giving it a capsize ratio of 1.84 and the motion and sea-keeping qualities that make it suitable for serious cruising despite its modest length.

The interior follows a traditional four-berth layout that makes good use of the boat's 8-foot beam. Forward is a V-berth, amidships a head, and the main salon contains two opposing settees that serve as additional berths. Recent updates include new Lemar 30 winches, a Ritchie compass, a 100-watt solar panel, a 1000-watt power inverter, a Renogy battery monitor, and a Blue Sea electric circuit control panel with complete rewiring. The original ports remain, with two fitted with screens. The sails with lazy jacks, lines, anchor and chain, head, hardware, water tanks, and seacocks are all in good condition. The boat is powered by a 2001 Yamaha 9.9 horsepower outboard motor.
