This 48-foot steel trawler was custom-built in 1986 to a Scott Sprague design for offshore cruising. Constructed to high standards by Hansen boat builders, she features the strength and safety of welded steel throughout. The hull is fully insulated and displaces 80,000 pounds, with a draft of 6 feet 1 inch and a beam of 15 feet. Power comes from a Caterpillar 3306 DI natural engine producing 190 horsepower, paired with a 1,040-gallon fuel capacity and a Yanmar generator for auxiliary power.
The trawler accommodates cruising pairs and small crews with two double cabins, each with an en-suite head and shower. The galley includes a Force 10 propane stove and Nova Kool refrigerator. A Stidd helm chair provides comfort on passage. Heating and cooling are handled by four MarineAIR heat-AC units and a diesel heating system, all functional.
Equipped for serious blue-water work, the boat carries paravane stabilizers and a bow thruster for maneuverability. Hydraulic systems include a snubbing winch on the fantail and a winch on the mast. Anchoring gear consists of a 105-pound CQR anchor, 60 feet of chain, 600 feet of 12-millimeter line, and 3,500 feet of 12-millimeter wire. Keel-cooler water cooling and a 3,500-nautical-mile range support extended cruising.
