The 1988 DeFever Pilot House is a 49-foot fiberglass trawler built for extended cruising and liveaboard use. Twin Ford Lehman diesel engines deliver 270 horsepower each, cruising efficiently at 7.5 knots with a maximum speed of 10 knots. A recently installed Makrolon flybridge enclosure provides an all-weather upper deck space.
The interior centers on a bright salon with large windows and teak joinery throughout. The layout includes two staterooms—a full-beam owner's cabin with en-suite head and a guest cabin with twin berths and a second head—along with a galley offering good storage and counter space. A generator and climate control support comfortable extended stays, and the boat carries substantial fuel and water tankage for long-distance passages.
The twin diesel engines have proven reliable, and a new flybridge enclosure was recently fitted. The interior reflects careful upkeep over its years of active use.
