The Express 37 is a fast, responsive one-design racer equally suited to cruising, light enough to be handled easily by two people. Hull #50 is a Mark 1 version, one of 65 built in the class. This boat has seen light racing and extensive cruising along the New England coast.
The rig and sails have received recent attention. New Raymarine electronics were installed in 2021. The mainsail is a North Norlam fully battened main with two reefs from 2017, paired with a North Norlam 135% Genoa of the same year and a North Norlam 116% yankee cut jib added in 2022. A Harken Furler was installed in 2020.
Standing rigging upgrades include replaced upper shrouds in rod (2019), lower shrouds in rod (2015), and headstay (2020). The Navtec pump and backstay cylinder were rebuilt in 2022, and mast wiring and lights were replaced in 2022. A custom Fairclough winter cover was added in 2014. The boat is powered by a single 27 hp Yanmar diesel engine.
