1986 Irwin 43 Mk II Cruiser

The Irwin 43 Mk II is a full-displacement cruising sailboat built with a fiberglass hull and a traditional centerline design suited to extended voyaging. The boat draws 5 feet, making it well-suited to shallow-water cruising grounds. Power comes from a Yanmar 4JH-TE turbo diesel engine rated at 75 horsepower with under 800 hours of service time. A bow thruster aids maneuvering in close quarters.

The accommodations center on a spacious main cabin with a centerline queen berth aft, a large galley, and an expansive saloon. Two separate heads serve the forward cabin and aft quarters—the aft head houses a composting unit, while the forward head includes both a manual pump and overboard discharge for use in appropriate waters. The layout favors comfortable long-term living aboard.

Recent work spans 2024 and prior years. The engine and generator have been professionally serviced; a new dripless shaft seal was installed, the fuel tank polished, and fresh bottom paint applied in three coats. The electrical system includes new 100 AH AGM batteries, a Victron MultiPlus 12v/3000/120 inverter, and a Victron battery monitor. A 2024 Garmin radar and wind instruments provide navigation support. Standing rigging has been updated with new upper shrouds and bobstay. The sails are recent—custom roller-furling jib and main, both from 2022, with two reef points. An Awlgrip finish was applied to hull and trim in 2022. A PolyCraft 10-foot tender with a 2021 Yamaha 15 hp outboard is included.

Additional systems include a Rain Man watermaker producing 36 gallons per hour, a 6-person liferaft, a NexGen generator with under 500 hours, a Dometic marine air conditioner, a VertriFrigo stand-up refrigerator and freezer, and a 0.9 cubic foot washing machine. A 65-pound Mantus anchor with 200 feet of chain, WeatherMax cockpit enclosure, and UV water treatment complete the setup.
