1986 Moody 34

The Moody 34 is a proven blue-water cruising design from Bill Dixon, built with thick fiberglass laminates and quality stainless steel fittings. This 1986 example features a bilge-keel configuration with 1.17-metre draft, allowing access to shallow anchorages and the ability to dry out safely in tidal harbors—an advantage over conventional fin-keel yachts. Power comes from a 36 hp Thornycroft T90 4-cylinder diesel engine, a reliable workhorse well-suited to the yacht's 5,080 kg displacement. The centre cockpit design provides a protected helm station, while roller reefing and Lewmar winches keep the boat manageable for cruising couples or single-handed sailing.

The interior layout offers exceptional accommodation for the size. A walk-through passage connects the saloon directly to the aft owner's stateroom without requiring passage through the cockpit—a valuable feature for safety and comfort in rough conditions. The aft cabin features a double berth with generous storage, while a separate forward cabin provides additional sleeping space. Teak joinery throughout creates a warm maritime interior, and headroom in the saloon reaches approximately 1.90 metres, making the space feel open and airy.

Electronics are fully modernized. A Garmin GNX wireless wind package and GPSMAP 723 plotter provide navigation data without legacy wiring complexity. The Raymarine EV-100 autopilot uses 9-axis sensor technology for precise course keeping. An AIS 800 transponder and 215i AIS marine radio deliver real-time traffic monitoring for offshore passages. The yacht carries a complete sail wardrobe including a spinnaker and storm jib, with self-sufficiency enhanced by a 100-watt solar panel and 900-watt inverter for off-grid anchoring.
