This 1986 Tartan 34-2 is a Sparkman & Stevens-designed cruiser built around a reputation for quality construction and balanced performance. The fiberglass hull measures 34 feet with an 11-foot beam and draws 6 feet 7 inches on its fin keel. Power comes from a 27-horsepower Yanmar diesel that received injector service in March 2026 and had new belts installed in 2024. The boat is equipped with a 17-inch three-blade bronze propeller replaced in October 2021.
The deck and rigging have received substantial attention. Standing rigging, chain plates, and mast wiring were all replaced by John Ramsey Rigging in September 2022, with the masthead and cranes rebuilt at that time. Chain plates were re-bedded in April 2025. The hydraulic backstay was rebuilt in summer 2023. Sails include a new Precision Sails dacron mainsail from 2023 with two reef points, a spare conventional main, a Doyle 120 genoa, a North Sails storm jib, and both red-white-blue asymmetrical and orange-black symmetrical spinnakers. A carbon spinnaker pole is included.
Accommodations center on two cabins: a forward v-berth with custom memory foam mattress and a quarter double berth aft, plus a wet head with manual Jabsco system replaced within the last four years. The galley has an Eno two-burner stove and a Cold Machine refrigerator from 2020. A new Kuuma six-gallon hot water heater was installed in July 2023. Ten opening portlights and three hatches provide ventilation, supplemented by three fans.
Power management relies on a 180-amp lithium battery installed in 2024, a 200-watt solar array with Renogy charging system, and a 3000-watt pure sine wave inverter. Electronics include Garmin chartplotter, Raymarine wind and depth instruments, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS receive, and Vesper Marine Class B AIS transceiver with wifi capability. Fuel capacity is 23 gallons, water 57 gallons, and holding tank 15 gallons. Anchoring gear includes a 20-kilogram Rocna anchor with 50 feet of chain and 150 feet of rode, plus a backup Danforth anchor with 200 feet of rode.
