1986 Tayana 52 Center Cockpit

The 1986 Tayana 52 Center Cockpit is a fiberglass sailing yacht built to bluewater cruising standards. Originally commissioned for Craig Breedlove, the boat was upgraded with premium stainless steel fittings, a lead keel, and an oversized light-air mast. It was subsequently refit by Lowell North in preparation for extended ocean cruising and has since been maintained by its current owner since 1997.

The yacht carries a single Perkins diesel engine producing 81 horsepower. At 52 feet in length with a 15-foot beam, the boat is designed for comfortable sailing performance across a range of wind conditions, from light to heavy air. The center cockpit layout is characteristic of the Tayana 52 design, offering practical cruising capabilities.

The boat has been actively cruised and represents a well-developed example of offshore cruising design from the Tayana lineup. Its combination of proven hull form, quality engineering upgrades, and extended cruising history make it suitable for both extended ocean passages and local sailing.
