The 1987 C&C 38 is a proven racer-cruiser with a fiberglass hull and fin keel designed for both performance and comfortable offshore sailing. The 38-foot monohull has a 12.75-foot beam and is powered by a Yanmar 3HMF35 diesel engine delivering 35 horsepower, turning a two-blade Sail-Rite feathering propeller on a 1 1/8" shaft fitted with a PSS dripless seal installed in 2022. The engine has 2,464 hours on it. A Maxwell electric windlass with anchor roller handles ground tackle, which includes a 35-pound Bruce anchor with chain and rode, plus a spare Delta Fast-Set anchor stored in the lazarette.
The sail plan is comprehensive: two genoas (one on Harken roller furling, one standalone), a 110% jib, fully battened Dacron mainsail, 90% storm sail, and spinnaker with pole and sheets. Rod rigging and double stainless steel lifelines support the rig. Barient winches, all lines led aft to the cockpit, and a removable dodger frame complete the deck setup.
Accommodation centers on a large V-berth forward, a quarter berth aft to port, and a convertible settee in the dinette. A private head forward to port features a manual toilet, wet head with handheld shower, and a replaced holding tank. The galley aft to starboard includes a three-burner propane stove with oven, microwave, double stainless sink, 6-gallon hot water tank with heat exchanger, and 12-volt refrigerator. A forced-air diesel heater was installed in 2025.
Navigation and electronics include a B&G Hornet package with nav station and cockpit displays, Autohelm radar on a gimbal, Garmin GPSMap 546, dual VHF radios, and Richie compass at the binnacle. The electrical system runs 120VAC shore power with a Newmar battery charger, four 6-volt house batteries, a Group 31 starting battery, and isolation switches. Bottom paint was applied in August 2025.
