This 1987 Hatteras 40 represents the build quality the brand is known for. Twin Crusader engines, each 350 horsepower and fresh water cooled, power the boat to a cruising speed of 14 knots and a maximum speed of 20 knots. The engines have logged only 850 hours. A Westerbeke generator with 800 hours provides onboard power, and the boat is equipped with air conditioning and heat throughout. The solid fiberglass modified V-hull has been maintained exclusively in fresh water since new.
The interior features teak and almond laminate finishes. The captain's quarters include a queen walk-around bed with 16 drawers and an ensuite head with sink and shower. A second cabin provides additional berthing, and two full private heads with stall showers serve the accommodations. Sea grass flooring and a Clarion sound system complete the interior appointments.
The aft deck is notably spacious for entertaining. A windlass is installed, and the boat carries air conditioning and heating. In 2022, the bottom received new paint with Sharkskin cover, with all blisters ground out first. The Westerbeke generator runs well and has only 800 hours on it.
